Cameo on Elon Musk

This Saturday, Elon Musk joined the cast of TV Series Westworld at ongoing SXSW in Austin, Texas, United States. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual film festival and conference that takes place in mid-March.

Westworld TV series is based on the 1973 film of the same name and it shows the interaction of humans with AI bots called “automatons” in a futuristic Western-themed amusement park. Things start to go south when these automatons begin malfunctioning and gain their own consciousness.

So, this series closely shows an aspect of how AI can impact human civilization. Elon Musk has been lately saying things regarding this issue very actively and openly. Musk, apparently, is not a fond of such uncontrolled general Artificial Intelligence and considers them a threat to the humans.

I think we’d be lucky if this was the AI apocalypse. If it was this attractive and charming” – Jonathon Nolan, co-creator of this hit series said. At the end of the discussion, Nolan invited Elon to the stage among the loud cheers from the audience.

AI Impact

Elon started off by saying that how there are a lot of problems in the world that are needed to be solved. “There are a lot of terrible things happening all over the world, all of the time, there are lots of problems that need to get solved. Lots of things that are miserable and kind of get you down.” Elon said.

“But life cannot just be about solving one miserable thing after another,” he added. “That can’t be the only thing. They need to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. That’s why we did this.” noting the recent Falcon Heavy launch.

But, the highlight of Musk’s cameo was the launch of two short clips that Jonathon Nolan and Westworld show co-creator Joy Lisa created and may I say, they look beautiful!!

These video clips show some breathtaking moments from the launch and some behind the scenes moments as well. The preparation, the excitement, The red Tesla Roadster getting attached to falcon heavy, the Ejection of Starman into the space, the simultaneous landing of two helper rockets and much more with David Bowie’s song “Starman” in the background.

Here are the videos. Enjoy.
